I am home, I did get home last night, but I went immediately to bed. I had a nice visit with horsetraveller Friday evening, and we went to the market and had breakfast, and then I headed out.
That's when things got miserable.
I've had some sort of cold/flu thing for the last couple weeks, but it has (slowly) been getting better. But as I was leaving Kitchener, I found I was feeling chilled -- even with the heat cranked up in the car, I was still feeling as if I was chilled at the bone. But, if I checked my skin temperature, I felt hot -- ugh, fever. I had been planning to visit Kyle (an ex of many years past) in Toronto Saturday afternoon on the way through, but as I approached Toronto, and my fever seemed to be getting worse and worse, I decided I'd better not. I pulled off at the last service center before T.O. and called her, and said I was sorry, I was getting sicker, and didn't think it was a good idea to visit. Then, I got back on the road again. As I headed in to Toronto, my stomach started to feel wrong, kind of hungry/uncomfortable -- but I had just eaten a large meal, so shouldn't be hungry. I ate a mint, and that helped a bit. I made it accross Toronto, but as I was leaving, I was feeling worse and worse -- fever getting worse, feeling tired/sleepy, etc, and stomach still not happy. As I got to the first serice center outside T.O., I was feeling so awful/tired that I decided I'd stop and take a break. I parked, tilted my seat back, and closed my eyes to rest for a while. After I bit I was starting to feel really nauseous -- so I pulled the car over to a parking spot closer to the grass. Then, got out of the car and leaned against it for a few minutes, and finally stepped onto the grass and vomited up all the contents of my stomach. Feeling slightly better, I staggered back to the car, and just sat in the door breathing for a while. Actually, that did leave me feeling a fair bit better, so I got back on the road, and drove the rest of the way home -- sucking on hard candy as I did. Still not at all pleasant, but did make it home. And, then, went immediately to bed. Today I'm slowly going to re-introduce food to my diet, and see how it goes.
